TRASH TO SPECTACULAR TREASURE! It can take sea glass decades for the sharp edges to smooth and take on a frosted look. Besides its beauty, the mystery and romance of sea glass makes it even more desirable. Each sea glass piece has a history, a story.

IN A FEW DECADES SEA GLASS MAY NOT EXIST AT ALL. Today sea glass is more scarce and can be harder to find due to plastic bottles and restrictions on ocean dumping (which is a good thing).

FAKE VS REAL SEA GLASS
To tell the difference look for sea glass that’s not perfect. Color varies in the natural pieces and there are imperfections. Glass that’s been tumbled in a machine doesn’t vary as much in color shape and thickness. Depending on your project you may want to consider using machine tumbled sea glass. I use a combination in my work.

THIS IS MACHINE TUMBLED SEA GLASS
I am fortunate enough to live on Kent Island, Maryland’s largest island and referred to as the “Gateway to the Eastern Shore”. I collect sea glass from the beaches here but it’s hard to find any colors except brown, green and white. I ordered some sea glass from a few places online and it was crap! I decided to make my own and it is gorgeous.

These beautiful tiny pieces are a mix of cobalt blue, Caribbean blue, light blue, green, light green and white. They are 3/4 inches and smaller. You will receive the exact glass that is in the picture. Perfect for a mosaic project!
